He is a Chicago Blues Hall of Fame inductee, and Lifetime Achievement awardee, with a catalogue of recordings on RCA, Vanguard, Alligator, an million selling blues/classical recordings on the iconic Deutsche Grammophon label.

Randy Sabien is a regular at Big Top Chautauqua, and has performed many times on A Prairie Home Companion and Austin City Limits.  His instrumental skill on the violin, guitar, mandolin, and piano, in the genres of jazz, country, and rock, is legendary
